Job Purpose:

To lead electrical maintenance, troubleshooting, and installation across mine surface and underground infrastructure, including processing plants, substations, conveyors, hoists, and pumping systems.

Key Responsibilities:

• Diagnose and repair complex electrical faults in MV/LV switchgear, motors (up to 6.6 kV), VFDs, starters, and lighting systems.
• Supervise and mentor junior technicians and apprentices.
• Plan and execute scheduled preventive maintenance and statutory electrical inspections.
• Read and update electrical schematics, loop diagrams, and cable schedules.
• Coordinate with operations to isolate and lock-out/tag-out (LOTO) equipment safely.
• Manage electrical spares inventory and assist in CAPEX planning for upgrades.
• Ensure compliance with mining electrical codes (e.g., MSHA, CANMET, or local mining regulations).

Qualifications:

• Trade certificate in Electrical Engineering / Industrial Electrician.
• Valid electrical license (journeyman or master) + high-voltage switching certification.

Experience:

• 8+ years in mining or heavy industry electrical maintenance, with at least 2 years in a senior or lead role.
• Experience with PLCs (Siemens, AB, Modicon) and soft starters.

Competencies:

• Advanced fault-finding using protection relays, thermal imaging, and power analyzers.
• Leadership and safety coaching.
• Physical fitness for underground or confined space work.
