Background
Hannah Bennie School (HBS) was established to provide children in Kigamboni with access to high-quality English-medium education close to home. As part of its commitment to safety and operational excellence, the school places strong emphasis on building a professional, well-trained, and highly disciplined security workforce that safeguards students, staff, and facilities.
To support this objective, HBS is seeking an experienced Security Training Officer to design and deliver structured training programs for its security personnel. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing guard competencies, standardizing operational procedures, and ensuring all security staff are fully equipped to handle routine duties and emergency situations effectively.
Responsibilities:
- Design, deliver, and continuously update training programs for school security guards and supervisors
- Train personnel on access control, patrol procedures, visitor management, search protocols, and incident reporting systems
- Conduct regular drills on emergency response, fire safety, evacuation procedures, first aid, and child-safeguarding scenarios
- Train guards on the use of communication equipment, CCTV systems, alarm systems, and access-control technologies
- Develop skills in customer service, professional conduct, conflict de-escalation, and incident documentation
- Assess security staff through written and practical evaluations and certify competency levels
- Recommend deployment, retraining, or disciplinary actions based on performance assessments
- Maintain comprehensive training records, attendance registers, and individual competency files
- Work closely with the Security Guarding Unit Manager to identify training gaps and develop annual refresher programs
- Ensure training content aligns with institutional policies, national regulations, and safety standards
Qualifications Required:
- Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Security Management, Criminology, Law Enforcement, or a related field
- Background in the Police Force, Military Service, or a licensed private security organization with proven training experience
- At least five years of experience in training security personnel or managing security training programs
- Certification in firefighting, first aid, defensive tactics, or related disciplines is a strong advantage
- Strong understanding of Tanzanian security regulations, OSHA requirements, and child safeguarding standards
- Excellent instructional, communication, and facilitation skills in both Swahili and English
- Strong organizational and assessment abilities
- Intermediate computer proficiency for developing training materials, maintaining records, and conducting assessments
- High level of discipline, professionalism, and integrity
