OBJECTIVE OF THE ROLE
To effectively teach students at Geita Gold International School in the middle years / lower secondary phase (approximately Ages 11–16) using an internationally accredited curriculum framework, such as the IB Middle Years Programme (MYP) and/or Cambridge International, ensuring high academic standards, transferability, and compliance with accreditation requirements.
The role incumbent is responsible for the effective transfer of skills and knowledge to learners and colleagues, contributing to staff capacity development in line with approved school development plans and international programme expectations.
ROLE ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Integrate a variety of teaching strategies—including inquiry‑based, project‑based, and collaborative learning—to support diverse learning styles.
- Contribute to vertical and horizontal curriculum alignment across grade levels and subject teams.
- Develop formative and summative assessments that align with IB MYP or Cambridge standards and accurately measure student mastery.
- Incorporate global perspectives and real‑world connections to enrich learning experiences.
- Track and analyze academic data to identify learning gaps and implement targeted interventions.
- Provide mentorship and academic coaching to support students’ personal and academic growth.
- Maintain a safe, supportive, and inclusive classroom environment that promotes learner agency.
- Manage behavior positively using restorative and student‑centered disciplinary approaches.
- Collaborate with colleagues on interdisciplinary units and whole‑school projects.
- Contribute to school accreditation processes by preparing documentation and participating in review activities.
- Engage in ongoing professional learning to remain current with IB MYP/Cambridge pedagogy and global best practices.
- Support capacity building by mentoring new teachers or interns as required.
- Maintain accurate, up‑to‑date gradebooks and records aligned with school reporting cycles.
- Provide detailed, constructive feedback to learners to guide improvement and reflection.
- Communicate effectively with diverse parent communities through meetings, conferences, and digital platforms.
- Ensure timely escalation of academic, behavioral, or wellbeing concerns to school leadership.
- Ensure effective classroom organization, including management of learning materials and digital tools.
- Maintain compliance with safeguarding, health & safety, and child‑protection procedures.
- Support smooth school operations by assisting with exam invigilation, supervision duties, and timetable responsibilities.
- Prepare and submit high‑quality planning, assessments, and documentation within required deadlines
ROLE REQUIREMENTS
Education & Qualification
- Teaching Degree or Higher Diploma and registration with the teaching council in the country of origin
- Must be registered with the Council of Educators or Ministry of Education and Vocational Training.
- Must possess a valid registration certificate with the Council of Educators or Ministry of Education and Vocational Training
Experience, Knowledge and Skills
- A minimum of 5 year’s international school experience.
- 5 years’ experience in using an international recognized curriculum, such as: IPC, MYP, PYP, Cambridge Primary Curriculum, British National Curriculum.
- Strong subject knowledge in the relevant discipline
- Sound understanding of IB MYP and/or Cambridge assessment and planning frameworks
- Effective use of ICT to enhance teaching and learning
- Be able to differentiate teaching methods to the learning requirements of dual grade classes.
- Excellent Organizational and Project management skills
- Motivate students to achieve the highest personal academic, extra-curricular and behavioural standards.
