WE ARE HIRING: Retail Store Manager

We are an expanding retail operations chain based in Zanzibar, Tanzania. We are seeking a highly commercial, disciplined, and results-driven Store Manager of Tanzanian nationality, who will hold single-point accountability for the total operational and financial performance of our store.

Role Purpose

As Store Manager, you will own the complete commercial and operational performance of the store—driving daily revenue, controlling inventory and shrinkage, leading store teams, and enforcing strict financial, compliance, and SOP standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Commercial & Sales Performance: Deliver daily, weekly, and monthly sales targets; optimize selling space productivity; improve conversion, average basket size, and Units Per Transaction (UPT), merchandizing and trade activations.
• Inventory Control & Shrinkage: Maintain stock accuracy, execute daily cycle counts, manage inbound warehouse transfers, enforce proper inventory management methods, and maintain least out-of-stock (OOS) rates on top lines while keeping shrinkage under watch.
• Cash & Financial Governance: Oversee daily cashier reconciliations (cash and mobile money), manage refund/void controls, ensure daily signoffs, and maintain zero unexplained cash variances.
• Operations & Reporting: Conduct daily floor walks, maintain high visual merchandising standards, and submit structured daily, weekly, and monthly operational reports.
• People & Compliance: Lead, train, and deploy store supervisors, cashiers, and sales staff; enforce safety, and operational SOPs with an audit compliance score

Requirements

• Experience: 3 to 5 years of proven experience as a Store Manager in Tanzania supermarket chains, retail chain outlets, or FMCG environments.
• Systems Proficiency: Strong working knowledge of ERP systems and POS software. Hands-on experience with Odoo ERP is a strong advantage.
• Education: Diploma or bachelor’s degree in business administration, Retail Management, Supply Chain, or a related field.
• Commercial Acumen: Strong understanding of store P&Ls, margin control, EBITDA targets, labor productivity, and sales metrics.
• Location: Must be based in or willing to move to Zanzibar, Tanzania.
