POSITION DESCRIPTION:

Reporting to: Shaft Operation Supervisor
Duration: Permanent
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the underground dewatering system.
- Operate and maintain the underground water reticulation system.
- Understand and manage the underground potable water supply system.
- Monitor and maintain dam levels, reporting promptly on any deviations.
- Perform daily pre-start checks on Scamont Pumps, and report any abnormalities, including unusual noise or deviations.
- Apply knowledge and skills on Positive Energy Isolation procedures.
- Understand and comply with safety signs and instructions posted at workstations.
- Monitor and control water pH levels, including flocculant dosing.
- Report all incidents or accidents promptly in accordance with mine regulations.
- Identify, understand, and manage workplace risks effectively.
- Assist with loading and offloading materials into and from shaft conveyance.
- Conduct daily pre-start checks on Warman Pumps and promptly report any deviations or unusual noise.
- Take appropriate and timely action to eliminate or reduce risks.
- Follow site procedures and instructions issued by supervisors.
- Operate pumping equipment safely and efficiently to prevent flooding and minimize pump damage.
- Complete all required paperwork accurately, professionally, and on time.
- Carry out pre-shift and routine inspections of equipment and the pump station area to maintain safe working conditions.
- Communicate effectively with pump station attendants, shaft operators, supervisors, and management as needed.
- Maintain good housekeeping standards within the pump station area.
- Ensure proper handover to the incoming shift and report to the supervisor.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
- Ordinary level certificate – Form IV
- Trade Certificate from recognized institution.
- Valid Driving License.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- 3 Years’ experience in similar role. Experience in mining industry is added as an advantage
SKILLS / KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS:
- Good Communication Skills, English & Swahili
- Demonstrates a high concern for health, safety and environment
