Job Overview
Pipe Fitters will support the construction, installation, and maintenance of high-pressure piping systems, valves, pipelines, and mechanical fittings used within mineral-processing and mining infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
- Read piping isometric drawings, blueprints, piping and instrumentation diagrams, and structural layout specifications.
- Inspect, cut, thread, bevel, assemble, align, and fit carbon steel, stainless steel, and HDPE piping systems.
- Prepare pipe sizes, flanges, valves, gaskets, supports, and hangers according to project specifications.
- Operate pipe cutters, beveling machines, grinders, threaders, hydraulic benders, and hoisting equipment.
- Prepare pipe circuits for pressure, leak, and hydrostatic testing.
- Participate in toolbox talks, risk assessments, and Job Safety Analyses.
- Follow company safety, health, and environmental requirements.
Qualifications and Experience
- VETA Trade Test Grade I, a certificate in Pipefitting, Mechanical Fabrication or Plumbing, or a Diploma in Mechanical Engineering.
- At least 2 to 3 years of pipe-fitting experience on large industrial construction projects.
- Proven experience with carbon steel, stainless steel, and HDPE or Victaulic piping systems.
- Ability to read piping isometric drawings and spool sheets independently.
- Knowledge of ASME B31.3, ASME B31.4, and AWS standards.
- Competence in flanged joints, bolt-torquing procedures, and valve installation.
- Working at Heights, Confined Space Entry, OSHA, or HSE certification is advantageous.
- Functional knowledge of English for reading technical manuals and drawings.
