Background information about the job or company (e.g., role context, company overview)

Responsible for providing strategic leadership and operational management of the bank’s physical security program. The role ensures protection of the bank’s assets, premises, employees and customers by overseeing security personnel and contracted security services ensuring effective operations of security systems and maintaining compliance with applicable security policies and regulations

Responsibilities or duties

Security Strategy and planning

  • Design and implement physical security strategies aligned with NMB bank’s physical security policy and BOT guidelines
  • Develop and update security policies, procedures and contingency plans scenarios like robberies, fire tragedies, natural disaster and civil unrest
  • Conduct regular security audits, vulnerability assessments, and threat analysis to identify and address risks.
  • Provide the bank with necessary security intelligence networking on all matters which may affect business including changes in patterns of crime in society ,the country and global

Managing security operations

  • Oversee the installations, maintenance, and operation of security systems, including CCTV, intrusion detection, access control, and alarms.
  • Manage and supervise physical security personnel, Armed Police, officers, private security guards and security service providers, ensuring high performance as per respective service level agreements and adherence to procedures
  • Coordinate security efforts across the network for consistent standards and practices.
  • Monitor daily security operations, assessing security situations to detect risks and advise or implement necessary preventive measures
  • Develop/Review physical security systems Installations guideline and monitor its implementation across the bank.
  • Ensure security risk assessments of existing branches/offices and potential business centers/sites are conducted and advise appropriate measures to mitigate identified risks.
  • Ensure security Operations support to branches and Head Office building on 24/7 basis

Central security command center oversight

  • Manage the daily operations of the central security command center
  • Ensure effective surveillance and monitoring of critical areas ,branches and offsite ATMS
  • Oversee retrieval and secure handling of CCTV footage to support investigations and compliance requirements

Executive residence security coordination

  • Coordinate and oversee security arrangements at the residence of designated bank executives
  • Ensure protocols are in place for both static and mobile protection as required

Emergency response and crisis Management

  • Lead responses to security emergencies and incidents. Coordinate with law enforcement, emergency services and advise the management to make informed decisions .
  • Develop and implement crisis management plans for emergencies like armed robberies, civil unrest etc.
  • Ensure post-incident investigations are conducted and detailed reports and recommendations are prepared to prevent recurrence.

Compliance and Regulatory Oversight

  • Ensure security practices comply with internal physical security policy, The banking and Financial Institutions (Physical security measures) Regulation 2014, other related regulations and international standards
  • Liaise with regulatory bodies and auditors to maintain compliance and address findings.
  • Stay updated on security regulations and emerging threats, adapting policies accordingly.

Training and Awareness

  • Design and conduct security awareness training to employees including emergency procedures, cash handling, security operations of the bank
  • Conduct emergency preparedness drills and simulations to test security measures and response protocols and people awareness
  • Promote security awareness, encouraging staff to report suspicious activities and follow policies and procedures.

Collaboration and Stakeholder Management

  • Collaborate with the Branch Controls and Quality Assurance, Operational Risk, Audit, and Compliance departments to align Physical Security Operations.
  • Act as the primary security contact by providing updates to Senior management and the board.

Budget and Resource Management

  • Develop and manage the security budget, optimizing resources for personnel and equipment.
  • Evaluate and procure security technologies and services, negotiating cost-effective contracts.
  • Monitor expenditures, implementing cost-saving measures without compromising security and safety.

Supporting and conducting investigations

  • Ensure investigation of incidents such as theft, violation of security procedures ,robbery ,damage of property ,accidents
  • Ensure support to forensic/fraud investigations and resolving internal and external customers and other stakeholders’ queries and requests for CCTV footage and other security logs are attended

Qualifications or requirements (e.g., education, skills)

  • Ability to challenge and improve work systems

Experience needed

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in any relevant discipline
  • At least 4 years’ progressive experience in physical security management preferably in banking or financial sector
  • Proven experience in managing large scale , Multi -Site Security operations including remote locations
  • Strong background in regulatory compliance and risk assessment framework
  • Experience of working in Law enforcement authorities such as police ,military is an added advantage
