Geita Regional Referral Hospital

Responsibilities or duties

  • Identify, prepare and order medicines and medical supplies required in the respective work area.
  • Dispense medicines and medical supplies to patients and staff.
  • Compound medicines.
  • Store medicines and medical supplies.
  • Educate the community on the proper use of medicines.
  • Inspect medicines, medical supplies, chemicals, reagents and cosmetics within the respective work area.
  • Provide information on adverse effects resulting from the use of medicines.
  • Coordinate the activities of hospital committees.
  • Prepare reports on the use of medicines and medical supplies.
  • Conduct quality assessments of medicines, medical supplies, chemicals, reagents and cosmetics.
  • Conduct various inspections in areas where medicines are stored.
  • Supervise the performance of staff under his/her supervision.
  • Maintain records of medicines and medical supplies.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications or requirements 

  • Diploma in Pharmacy from a Government-recognized institution.
  • Completed one year of internship training.
  • Registered with the Pharmacy Council.
  • Tanzanian citizen aged 18 years or above and not exceeding 35 years.
  • Completed Form Four education or higher.
  • Rightful owner of the academic and professional certificates submitted and must attach copies of the certificates to the application.
  • Willing to volunteer in the respective work area.
  • Must not have previously been convicted by a court of law for a criminal or disciplinary offence.
  • Good conduct and character acceptable to the community.
  • Must not have previously been employed by any Public Institution since completing his/her studies.
  • Applicants whose professions require registration with their respective professional boards must attach registration certificates and valid licences.

Experience needed

One year of internship training.

The monthly allowance will be provided as stipulated in the 2025 Guidelines for Voluntary Service in the Public Service.
