Job Summary

The Paediatrician provides comprehensive medical care to infants, children, and adolescents, including diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of childhood illnesses. The role involves monitoring growth and development, managing acute and chronic conditions, and offering guidance to parents and guardians on child health and wellness.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough physical examinations and developmental assessments of paediatric patients.
  • Diagnose and treat acute and chronic illnesses, infections, and injuries in children.
  • Order and interpret diagnostic tests (lab work, imaging, etc.).
  • Prescribe medications and treatments appropriate for paediatric patients.
  • Administer vaccinations according to national immunization schedules.
  • Monitor growth, nutrition, and developmental milestones.
  • Manage chronic conditions such as asthma, diabetes, epilepsy, and congenital disorders.
  • Provide emergency care for critically ill or injured children.
  • Counsel parents and guardians on child care, nutrition, safety, and disease prevention.
  • Collaborate with nurses, specialists, and allied health professionals.
  • Maintain accurate medical records and documentation.
  • Participate in ward rounds, clinics, and on-call duties.
  • Mentor and supervise medical students, interns, and residents.
  • Engage in continuing medical education and quality improvement initiatives.

Qualifications & Requirements

Education: Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS/MBChB).

Specialization: Completed residency or fellowship in Paediatrics.

Licensure: Valid medical license to practice in [State/Country].

Certifications: Board certification in Paediatrics; BLS, PALS, or NRP preferred.

Experience: [2–5] years of paediatric clinical experience.

Skills: Strong clinical judgment, communication with children and parents, empathy, patience, and decision-making under pressure.
