The role may be based in any of the following locations:

  • Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania
  • Antananarivo, Madagascar
  • Lomé, Togo
  • Dakar, Senegal
  • Dubai

Required education

Applicants should have an advanced degree equivalent to 5 years of post-secondary education in one of the following fields:

  • Business school
  • Engineering school
  • Equivalent university program

Required experience

Applicants should have proven experience of more than 5 years in project or program management, or in a PMO/transformation role.

Experience in the following sectors is preferred:

  • Banking
  • Finance
  • Consulting

Your profile

The ideal candidate should have the following skills and competencies:

  • Proficiency in portfolio management and project governance methods and tools.
  • Excellent written communication skills, with the ability to produce decision memos, executive briefings, structured reports, and management presentations in French and English.
  • Very strong proficiency in PowerPoint and Excel.
  • Good understanding of regulated environments, ideally in banking, fintech, mobile money, financial services, or financial transformation consulting.
  • Attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to manage a high volume of work simultaneously.
  • Ability to work independently and take a hands-on approach.

Your challenges

The PMO Transformation Manager will be responsible for supporting and driving key transformation initiatives. Main responsibilities include:

  • Manage the project portfolio, define scope, set milestones, plan work, and set priorities with management.
  • Lead high-stakes cross-functional projects, including transformation, reorganization, and governance initiatives.
  • Run project governance by preparing and chairing monthly decision committees and producing reporting materials.
  • Build monitoring tools, including trackers, dashboards, and timelines, and follow up regularly.
  • Prepare decisions for management by formalizing options, analyzing impacts, identifying bottlenecks, and giving recommendations.
  • Keep a decision log by tracking decisions, dependencies, and commitments from committee meetings to ensure continuity.
  • Watch risks and dependencies, alert stakeholders, escalate issues, and unblock problems.
  • Standardize working methods by creating templates for business cases, decision memos, RACI matrices, and implementation plans.
  • Enforce ownership discipline by assigning a sponsor and a business owner to each project to ensure transformation work moves from planning to operational teams permanently.
