About the Unit
YARA Tanzania is duly registered company under the Laws of Tanzania as a subsidiary of Fertilizers Holdings AS with headquarters in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. The aim is developing a market concept that increase the number of farmers using fertilizer including better knowledge in plant nutrition, improved distribution and logistics. One of Yara investments in the country includes the construction of a 40 KT bulk terminal near Dar es Salaam Port which handles importation of bulk fertilizer, packaging and sale in Tanzania, Rwanda and Burundi.
Responsibilities
Operations Process Engineer is responsible for designing, optimizing, and monitoring production processes to improve efficiency, quality, and safety. This role’s key focus is analysing operations, troubleshooting issues and implementing continuous improvement initiatives to ensure optimal plant performance.
- Implement safe by choice initiative across operations people and processes by ensuring all processes within the terminal adhere to HESQ guidelines as well as Implementation of lean tools; 5S, KAIZEN and single point lesson
- Design and develop efficient packaging processes for new and existing products while optimizing packaging lines to improve OEE, yield throughout changeover times.
- Provide daily technical support to packaging operations such as troubleshoot packaging line issues, root cause analysis and corrective actions.
- Lead and support continuous improvement initiatives such as identification of opportunities to reduce waste, downtime and packaging defects.
- Drive cost reduction initiatives for packaging materials and processe, implement best practices and standardized processes across lines or sites.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key internal functions and external stakeholders.
Profile
- University degree in Agronomy, Agriculture, Business Administration, or related field.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
- A minimum of 5 years work experience running terminal operations in a multinational company.
- Good communication skills with fluency in written and spoken English and Swahili languages.
- Competent in Microsoft office applications; word, excel, powerpoint.
