About the Role

The Nutritionist will design, implement, and monitor nutrition programs aimed at preventing and managing malnutrition among vulnerable populations, including children under five, pregnant and lactating women, and people with chronic illness. The role includes screening, counseling, supplementary feeding, and community nutrition education.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct nutrition assessments and anthropometric measurements (MUAC, weight, height, edema).
  • Identify and enroll malnourished cases into appropriate treatment programs (e.g., CMAM, OTP, TSFP).
  • Provide individualized nutrition counseling for maternal, infant, and young child nutrition (MIYCN).
  • Develop and deliver nutrition education sessions for caregivers and communities.
  • Manage and monitor distribution of nutritional supplements (RUTF, micronutrients, fortified foods).
  • Collaborate with health staff to integrate nutrition into primary healthcare services.
  • Conduct growth monitoring and promotion activities.
  • Refer complicated cases to stabilization centers or medical facilities.
  • Collect, analyze, and report nutrition data (admissions, recovery, defaulter, mortality rates).
  • Train community health workers, mothers' groups, and volunteers on nutrition best practices.
  • Support food security and livelihood assessments and interventions where required.
  • Ensure compliance with national and international nutrition standards (WHO, UNICEF, SPHERE).

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Nutrition, Dietetics, Public Health Nutrition, or related field.
  • [2–4]+ years of experience in nutrition programming, preferably in humanitarian settings.
  • Registered/licensed with the relevant nutrition or dietetics council.
  • Certification in CMAM/IMAM or IYCF is highly desirable.
  • Experience with nutrition surveys (SMART, SQUEAC) is an asset.

Skills & Competencies

  • Knowledge of malnutrition screening and treatment protocols.
  • Strong data collection, analysis, and reporting skills.
  • Excellent community mobilization and counseling skills.
  • Ability to work with children and caregivers sensitively.
  • Proficiency in [relevant software: Excel, ENA, SPSS, etc.].
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
