The Nurse will be responsible for overseeing the health and well-being of all children living at Majengo, including managing minor illnesses, supporting chronic health cases, keeping health records, and coordinating with hospitals and health facilities. The role requires compassion, attention to detail, and a strong commitment to child welfare.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor the daily health status of children and provide first aid and basic medical care.
  • Manage medications, treatment schedules, and follow-up care.
  • Support children with chronic health conditions such as heart disease or special needs.
  • Keep detailed medical records for each child and update them regularly.
  • Coordinate referrals and transport for external medical appointments and emergencies.
  • Provide health education and hygiene training to children and staff.
  • Support the organization of health-related activities such as deworming, immunizations, and medical screenings.
  • Work closely with the social work and caregiving team to ensure integrated care.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Prepare monthly reports on health activities and concerns.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Diploma or Degree in Nursing from a recognized institution.
  • Registered with the Tanzania Nurses and Midwives Council.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience, preferably in a children’s setting or health facility.
  • Experience in pediatric or community health is an added advantage.
  • Strong communication and record-keeping skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in a multidisciplinary team.
  • Compassionate, child-friendly, and professional attitude.
  • Fluency in Kiswahili; basic English skills preferred.
  • Computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel) are an advantage.a
