Duties and Responsibilities
- To assist and provide guidance on inspection, registration and licensing of ships;
- To assist study and recommend for approval a ship design plans and drawings and plans for new build and or all ships under major alterations;
- To assist conduct surveys for a new ship under constructions or alteration construction or major repairs and provide recommendation report for considerations;
- To assist study stability information booklet for a new ship or under alteration or major repair and recommend to Registrar for approval;
- To assist carrying out tonnage measurement of a new ship or under alteration and marking of the ship and provide recommendation report to the Registrar;
- To assist carrying out stability and inclination proof test for a new ship or under alteration or under major repair;
- To assist and coordinate carry out investigations on marine accident/incident;
- To assist in taking action against unsafe ships operating in Tanzania waters;
- To assist prepare periodic implementation reports on implementation of maritime safety, security and protection of environment activities; and
- To perform any other official duties as may be assigned by the supervisor from time to time.
Qualifications
Holder of Bachelor Degree in Naval Architecture, Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering, Naval Architecture and Offshore Engineering or equivalent qualifications from any recognized Institution.
