The Mining Manager is responsible for leading the operational readiness, mine preparation, and subsequent execution of open pit mining activities at the site. Initially, the role will focus on preparing the mine for safe and efficient production, including early-stage mine preparation such as pre-stripping, mine plan development, mining contractor engagement, recruitment and training of personnel, and commissioning of equipment and infrastructure. Once operational, the manager will oversee day-to-day mining operations to ensure production targets are met in compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory standards. This role is critical in transitioning the site from project development to full-scale mining operations.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Adhere to company policies and procedures regarding safety, environment, health, and community.
- Lead and manage all mine preparation activities, including construction and commissioning of mine infrastructure and equipment, as well as award and management of mining contracts, including tender processes and mobilization planning.
- Collaborate with geology, engineering, and construction teams to ensure timely delivery and commissioning of mine infrastructure and facilities.
- Develop and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs), emergency response plans, and safety systems in preparation for operational ramp-up.
- Manage contractor performance and ensure adherence to contractual obligations and operational standards.
Eligibility Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 10 years’ experience in open pit mining, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
