LIWALE DISTRICT COUNCIL is seeking to fill the position of Medical Officer Grade II (MO).

Responsibilities or duties

  • Perform all medical duties in the hospital related to various diseases, including pediatric illnesses, maternal health conditions, and routine as well as emergency surgeries.
  • Provide and supervise health education activities and improve community health within the district and assigned areas.
  • Investigate, monitor, and prevent disease outbreaks.
  • Maintain health statistics and ensure compliance with MTUHA (Health Management Information System) guidelines.
  • Plan and evaluate health services in the assigned area.
  • Train students and staff working within the assigned area.
  • Supervise and guide staff under their authority.
  • Train students from health training institutions.
  • Design and conduct research and disseminate findings.
  • Develop strategies for improving the quality of professional services.
  • Prepare health service plans and budget estimates.
  • Participate in medical audits and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Provide outreach health services within the district.
  • Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor in line with qualifications, experience, and skills.

Qualifications or requirements 

Applicants must possess:

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Human Medicine from a Government-recognized institution.
  • Completion of an internship of not less than one year.
  • Registration with the Medical Council of Tanganyika.
  • A valid practicing license.

Experience needed

At least two (2) years of experience in the Maternity Ward and/or Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU).
