Epha Hospital is seeking a highly capable Medical Laboratory Technologist to conduct medical laboratory tests at its facility.
The successful candidate will be responsible for performing specialized laboratory procedures, analyzing test results, summarizing findings in reports, and maintaining laboratory supplies and inventories.
To succeed in this role, the Medical Laboratory Technologist should have strong knowledge of laboratory procedures, hands-on experience in a medical laboratory environment, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to keep up with advancements in medical laboratory sciences.
Responsibilities or duties
The Medical Laboratory Technologist will be responsible for:
- Preparing biological samples for testing, including:
- Tissue
- Blood
- Urine
- Spinal fluid
- Gastric juices
- Performing laboratory examinations on samples, including:
- Serological examinations
- Bacteriological examinations
- Biochemical examinations
- Hematological examinations
- Microbiological examinations
- Conducting blood group, blood type, and compatibility tests.
- Performing full blood counts.
- Counting cells in prepared samples, as well as microorganisms such as bacteria and parasites.
- Analyzing biochemical composition and determining the presence of drug chemicals.
- Determining whether sample parameters fall within normal ranges and identifying abnormalities.
- Summarizing results and reporting findings in electronic format to referring physicians and medical specialists.
- Collaborating with healthcare providers and specialists on patient care.
- Taking inventory of laboratory stock and supplies.
- Ordering laboratory supply replenishments when required.
- Maintaining and calibrating laboratory equipment, including:
- Analyzers
- Colorimeters
- Flame photometers
- Spectrophotometers
- Adhering to best practices in medical laboratory sciences.
- Keeping up with advancements in the field of laboratory sciences.
Qualifications or requirements
Applicants should have the following qualifications and experience:
- Certificate or diploma with a focus on Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, or a related field.
- Proficiency in electronic health record management systems, such as:
- AdvancedMD
- Clinical Works
- In-depth knowledge of medical laboratory equipment, techniques, tests, and procedures.
- Advanced knowledge of preparing and analyzing biological samples.
- Proficiency in inventory management and maintaining laboratory equipment.
- Exceptional ability to summarize and report test results.
- Extensive experience collaborating with healthcare providers and specialists.
- Knowledge of best practices and advancements in the field of laboratory sciences.

At least 2 years of experience as a Medical Technologist.
