Background

Haydom Lutheran Hospital (HLH) was officially opened in 1955 and currently has 450 beds. It was built and run by the Norwegian Lutheran Mission (NLM) until after independence. In 1963, it was handed over to the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Tanzania (ELCT), Mbulu Diocese.

In 2010, through the Official Government Gazette, Public Notice No. 828 of 12th November 2010, the Government of Tanzania upgraded HLH to become a Regional Referral Hospital for Manyara Region.

HLH is committed to providing quality, affordable and holistic health care services to the marginalized rural population while also serving as a teaching and referral centre.

The Executive Director invites dynamic, qualified, and suitable Tanzanians to fill Eight (8) vacant posts of Medical Doctor.

Responsibilities

  • Attend, clerk, investigate, diagnose and manage Outpatients and Inpatients.
  • Perform ward rounds, on-call duties and emergency management as per roster.
  • Perform minor surgeries and assist in major surgical procedures according to skills and competence.
  • Supervise and mentor Assistant Medical Officers, Interns and students.
  • Ensure proper documentation, patient records and confidentiality.
  • Ensure adherence to Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) and quality assurance standards.
  • Participate in clinical audits, outreach services, research and Continuous Medical Education (CME).
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the Supervisor / Head of Department.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) Degree from a recognized institution.
  • Must have completed Internship (1 year) and be registered with the Medical Council of Tanganyika (MCT).
  • Possession of a valid practicing license from MCT.
  • Ability to handle emergency cases, work under minimal supervision and commit to serve in a rural setting.
  • Good communication, interpersonal and clinical decision-making skills.
  • Ability to work in a team and adhere to medical ethics and professional code of conduct.
