We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Medical Doctor to join our team. The successful candidate will provide high-quality patient care, adhering to the highest medical standards, ethical guidelines and Tanzanian medical regulations.
The best suitable candidate for this role must be vastly technical, compassionate and experienced in providing maternal/obstetric care and able to work on a flexible schedule of night duties.
Role Responsibilities:
- Provide an opinion and assist in management of any outpatients or inpatients referred for review by the midwifery team
- Engage in teaching ward rounds.
- Attend all obstetric emergencies when on duty/on call and plan ongoing management of care.
- Perform assisted deliveries and caesarean section and otherwise assist the midwifery team in prevention and management of complications of pregnancy and labour. • Attend and review all patients with early pregnancy complications and be responsible for planning and implementing medical/surgical management.
- Mentor and support all members of the multi-disciplinary team in a manner in which shared goals, shared knowledge and mutual respect are emphasised.
- To assist during fistula camps – with screening of patients, intraoperative and post operative care.
- Perform on-call duties including weekends and nights as per Kivulini Maternity Centre roster.
- Ensure all medical documentation is filled correctly and on time.
- Be involved in clinical governance including timely reporting and reviewing of clinical incidents.
Qualifications and certifications, Experience and Skills required.
- Qualification in Medical Doctor (MD) degree from an accredited university. • Licensure/Certification:
– Valid medical practising license in Tanzania.
– Registration Certificate from Medical Council of Tanganyika
- Experience: 5 years of experience as a practicing physician preferred. (At-least 3 years experience in obstetric – e.g., experience in conducting caesarean sections, difficult deliveries, handling obstetric emergencies, performing minor obstetric repairs and fistula screening)
- Skills:
– Excellent communication, interpersonal, and patient-centered skills.
– Strong diagnostic and clinical judgment skills.
– Ability to provide kind and compassionate care to vulnerable marginalized women. – Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
– Strong organizational and time-management skills.
– Proficiency in electronic health records (EHR) systems.
– Knowledge in Tanzania Medical Regulations and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
