Background

Kijenge Animal Products Limited (KAPL) is an Agro-Processing manufacturing company that continues to contribute significantly in Tanzania’s industrial and agricultural transformation. Located in the Engutoto in Arusha, Tanzania. With current investments which supports ongoing projects and continued expansion, KAPL is inviting qualified and experienced professionals to apply for the following positions; Mechanical Technicians. (2 Positions)

Department: Operations. Employment Type: Full-time. Location: Arusha.

Key Responsibilities and Duties

  • Repair and Maintain Machinery.
  • Assembling or dismantling industrial machinery, equipment, or other devices according to written or verbal instructions from supervisors or other experts in the field.
  • Troubleshooting malfunctions in equipment or processes to determine causes and solutions.
  • Performing basic engineering calculations such as pressure loss calculations for steam lines.
  • Maintaining and repairing operating equipment such as steam boilers, motors, pumps, hydraulic systems, pneumatic systems, or other mechanical components.
  • Creating drawings of new equipment or parts based on engineering designs and specifications.
  • Devise Preventive Measures to Avoid Machine Production Downtime.
  • Keep Meticulous Records of Machine Service History.
  • Handle personal tools for the job including up-to-date documented personal tool lists.

Qualifications & Experience

Educational Requirements.

  • Ordinary Level (Form IV) certificate as a base entry requirement.
  • Diploma or Certificate in Mechanical Engineering, Plant Maintenance, or Industrial Mechanics from a recognized technical college (e.g. VETA in Tanzania, or equivalent).
  • Trade Test Certificate (Grade I, II, or III) issued by VETA or NACTE will be an added advantage.

Experience.

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in working on medium heavy to heavy duty Animal Feed Machines.
  • 3–5 years with demonstrated hands-on maintenance work.
  • Practiced knowledge working on and maintaining in mechanical systems – gears, bearings, shafts, couplings, conveyor systems.
  • Practiced knowledge welding and fabrication basics.
  • Practiced knowledge preventive and corrective maintenance procedures.
  • Practiced knowledge reading engineering drawings and technical manuals and implementations.
  • Practiced knowledge working on and maintaining machinery lubrication systems and schedules.

Personal Attributes

  • Attention to detail and mechanical aptitude.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet production targets.
  • Physical fitness.
  • Ability to work in shifts, including nights and weekends.
