Background
Mbeya Cement Company Limited, a member of Amsons Group, is seeking to recruit a highly motivated Mechanical Technician to be based at the Mbeya Plant under a permanent employment contract. The reporting line for the position is to the Team Leader.
Main Responsibilities
- Report on any necessary resource and time usage, job scope expansions, rework, or deferred maintenance.
- Conduct routine Preventive Maintenance (PM) checks, including vibration and temperature monitoring, on designated rotating equipment and accurately log all readings.
- Undertake the necessary maintenance and repair of static equipment, including valves, pipework, pressure vessels, and storage tanks.
- Apply sound engineering practices and ensure compliance with standards, tolerances, and fits for all tasks, both on-site and in contractor workshops.
- Conduct troubleshooting and preliminary Root Cause Analysis for equipment and machinery, identifying and formally reporting any emerging issues.
- Execute all planned mechanical activities while adhering to all required safety standards.
Qualifications
- Education: Diploma in Mechanical Engineering.
- Experience: Minimum three (3) years of relevant experience in a manufacturing or extractive industry.
Technical/Behavioral Competencies Required
- Mechanical upgrading skills (Fitter, Welding, and Turning).
- Belt splicing technology (cold repair, cold and hot splicing, pulley lagging, and belt alignment).
- Bearing technology and lubrication.
- Hands-on experience with equipment.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
