Mapinga Premium Foods, a fast-growing food manufacturing company located in Mapinga, Bagamoyo, is seeking a skilled and experienced Mechanical Technician to join its production and maintenance team. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring smooth operation of production machinery by carrying out installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of mechanical equipment used in food processing operations. The role requires a hands-on technical professional who can work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment where machine uptime, efficiency, and safety are critical to production success. The Mechanical Technician will play a key role in preventing equipment breakdowns, reducing downtime, and ensuring that all mechanical systems operate efficiently according to company standards and safety regulations. The ideal candidate should be highly disciplined, technically competent, and capable of working both independently and as part of a maintenance team in a production-driven environment.
Responsibilities
- Perform routine preventive maintenance on all mechanical production equipment to ensure continuous and efficient operation of machinery.
- Diagnose mechanical faults and carry out timely repairs to minimize production downtime and ensure smooth workflow in the factory.
- Inspect machines regularly to identify wear and tear, potential failures, and recommend necessary corrective actions or replacements.
- Assist in installation, setup, and commissioning of new machinery and equipment in accordance with technical specifications and safety standards.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records, report breakdowns, and ensure compliance with workplace safety procedures during all mechanical operations.
Qualifications
Applicants must possess a Technical Certificate or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or a related field from a recognized institution. Candidates should have a minimum of three years of practical experience working as a Mechanical Technician in a manufacturing or industrial environment, preferably within the food processing sector. Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, production machinery, fault diagnosis, and repair techniques is essential. The ideal candidate must demonstrate the ability to read and interpret technical drawings, manuals, and diagrams effectively. Additionally, candidates should have strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and a solid understanding of workplace safety procedures. Ability to work in shifts, including weekends and public holidays when required, is an added advantage in ensuring continuous production operations.
