MECHANICAL ENGINEER (Dar es Salaam)

Description

Job Description – Responsibilities

  • Plan and supervise preventive and corrective maintenance of mechanical equipment and machinery.
  • Diagnose mechanical faults and coordinate timely repairs to minimize equipment downtime.
  • Monitor the performance, reliability, and efficiency of production machinery.
  • Support installation, commissioning, modification, and upgrading of mechanical equipment.
  • Prepare maintenance schedules, technical reports, and equipment performance records.
  • Identify opportunities for improving machine efficiency, productivity, and reliability.
  • Ensure mechanical maintenance activities comply with company safety, quality, and environmental standards.
  • Coordinate with Production, EHS, Electrical, and other departments to resolve operational issues.
  • Manage contractors and service providers involved in mechanical maintenance and projects.
  • Support root-cause analysis and implementation of corrective and preventive actions.
  • Assist in spare-parts planning and ensure availability of critical mechanical components.

Requirements

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
  • Registered or eligible for registration with the relevant professional engineering body.
  • Experience in manufacturing, steel, fabrication, or industrial production is an added advantage.
  • Good knowledge of mechanical maintenance, machinery, hydraulics, pneumatics, and industrial equipment.
  • Ability to troubleshoot mechanical faults and conduct root-cause analysis.
  • Good knowledge of preventive and predictive maintenance practices.
  • Proficiency in engineering and maintenance-related software/tools.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, planning, and project management skills.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
  • Commitment to workplace safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
