We are looking for a motivated and highly experienced individual to fill the position of:

Managing Editor-Sports Multimedia & Revenue Growth

Purpose

To lead and drive the Sports Multimedia function by developing high-quality, innovative sports content across digital, print, and broadcast platforms, while leveraging editorial assets to grow audience engagement, brand value, and revenue through strategic content partnerships, sponsorships, and commercial initiatives.

Main Responsibilities

Content & Editorial Leadership

  • Lead the creation of high-quality sports multimedia content (video, podcasts, live streams, written formats).
  • Develop content strategies around local, regional, and international sports, with strong audience appeal.
  • Identify and package premium sports content that can attract advertisers and sponsors.
  • Ensure content is data-driven, audience-focused, and platform-optimized.

Monetization & Revenue Growth

  • Design and execute monetization strategies for sports content, including Subscriptions and premium content, Platform partnerships and syndication.
  • Work closely with sales and commercial teams to create market-ready sports products.
  • Develop brands media kits, audience insights, and content packages for brands.
  • Identify new revenue opportunities in digital sports, fan engagement, and sports data.

Partnerships & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Build strategic partnerships with sports federations, leagues, clubs, athletes, and sponsors.
  • Represent the MwanaSpoti in negotiations with advertisers and content partners.
  • Collaborate with influencers, creators, and production teams to expand reach.

Digital Growth & Innovation

  • Grow digital audiences across web, apps, social media, YouTube.
  • Use analytics to track performance, optimize content, and improve conversion rates.
  • Experiment with new formats such as short-form video, creator collaborations, and fan communities.
  • Stay ahead of trends in sports media, streaming, and digital monetization.

Leadership & Operations

  • Lead and mentor a multidisciplinary team of journalists, producers, videographers, and digital creators.
  • Manage budgets, production schedules, and performance targets.
  • Uphold editorial integrity while delivering commercial value.

Minimum Qualifications & Experience

Academic: Degree in Journalism, Communications, Marketing, Business, or related field.

Experience: 5+ years’ experience in sports media, digital publishing, broadcasting, or content platforms.
