Responsibilities

The Male Chef (Bakery Specialist) is responsible for producing all baked goods for the school, including bread, pastries, cakes, and snacks.

  • Baking Production: Prepare and bake a variety of products, including bread, rolls, cakes, pastries, cookies, and other baked goods for students and staff.
  • Recipe Development: Develop, test, and refine recipes for new and existing bakery products, ensuring quality, consistency, and taste.
  • Menu Contribution: Contribute to menu planning by providing creative and nutritious baked options for breakfast, snacks, and special events.
  • Food Safety: Adhere strictly to food safety and hygiene standards (proper handling, storage, baking temperatures, and sanitation) to prevent foodborne illnesses.
  • Kitchen Cleanliness: Maintain a clean, organized, and hygienic kitchen environment, including all equipment, utensils, and surfaces.
  • Inventory Management: Monitor stock levels of baking ingredients (flour, sugar, yeast, etc.) and communicate low-stock items to the supervisor for reordering.
  • Special Dietary Needs: Prepare baked goods for children with allergies, medical conditions, or dietary restrictions (e.g., gluten-free, sugar-free) as directed.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Ensure proper use and care of all baking equipment and ovens.
  • Team Collaboration: Work collaboratively with other kitchen staff to ensure timely and efficient meal service.
  • Waste Management: Minimize food waste and ensure proper disposal of kitchen waste.
