ORGANISATION SETTING:
This position is situated in the General Services Section of the International Residual Mechanism for Criminal Tribunals (IRMCT), Arusha Branch.
REPORTING LINE:
The incumbent will work under the general supervision of the Logistics Operations Officer and will be expected to carry out the following:
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Responsible for pouch dispatch documentation, distribution of interoffice mail, incoming pouch, outgoing mail materials, and overnight express services.
2. Prepare tags to identify destinations, dates, airline carrier, and correct pouch numbers, summary of enclosures for each destination.
3. Estimate the number of pouches, prepare a daily pouch log reflecting the number of pouches, weights, etc., for scheduled airline destinations and airlines.
4. Track the distribution of all mail as well as pouch service.
5. Ensure that all items received through the incoming pouch for intra-shipment, the outgoing pouch, and incoming mail units are accurately recorded.
6. Sign for valuable items to be shipped via pouch and outgoing mail unit, identify and sort items to be shipped by pouch, by mail, or by contracted shippers.
7. Ensure timely distribution of urgent mail.
8. Deliver by hand, sensitive and urgent letters to embassies, government ministries, UN Agencies, and NGOs, etc.
9. Ensure timely distribution of conference documents.
10. Receive all official, personal, and confidential mail and packages addressed to the United Nations Mechanism for International Criminal Tribunal, deliver, and maintain accurate records.
11. Receive certified mail, registered mail, express mail, mail from permanent missions, courier deliveries, and other personal mail; prepare a log sheet and forward it to the appropriate offices.
12. Assist the unit supervisor in opening and inspecting items intended for dispatch to ensure that all are following pouch and mail regulations.
13. Delivery and collection of travel documents to the Arusha Immigration Office.
14. Assist IRMCT staff in the registration at the Tanzanian Revenue Authority and the obtaining of Tax Identification numbers.
15. Performs other ad hoc tasks as assigned.
Qualifications/special skills
Successful completion of a high school diploma or equivalent is required. A minimum of two (2) years of experience in handling mail, pouch registry operations or related areas is required. Demonstrated experience in professional driving and possession of a valid Category B driving license is required. Ability to operate different categories of vehicles is desirable.
Languages
English and French are the working languages of the Mechanism. For the post advertised, fluency in oral and written English is required. Working knowledge of Swahili/Kiswahili is desirable.

The appointment is limited to the International Residual Mechanism for Criminal Tribunals. This position is subject to local recruitment. Only applicants who are authorized to work in the duty station and are currently living in the duty station or within commuting distance can apply for this position.
