Role Overview & Primary Purpose

The Logistics Officer coordinates day-to-day logistical operations at Ignite Energy Access (IEA) Tanzania to ensure efficient, timely, and safe movement of goods. The role oversees stock movement, executes forward and reverse distribution plans for MySol solar home systems (SHS), appliances, and spare parts across the National Warehouse and MySol shops, and enforces strict inventory compliance.

Distribution & Stock Movement:

Supervise loading, offloading, field stock balancing, and reshuffles. Manage spare parts demands and transport routes across the retail network.

Cost & Process Optimization:

Plan efficient deliveries to optimize transport costs. Apply continuous improvement methods (Kaizen, 6S, Six Sigma) across supply chain operations.

Data & Inventory Administration:

Oversee digital and hard-copy documentation, including delivery notes, control sheets, and ticketing systems. Ensure high data integrity across database records.

Quality & Safety Compliance:

Enforce health, safety, and environmental (HSE) standards across delivery vehicles, warehouse equipment, and manual handling processes.

Risk & Issue Resolution:

Investigate and resolve damaged or lost shipments, adhere to trade and regulatory requirements, and manage vendor/transporter accountability.

Qualifications & Person Specification

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics & Inventory Management, Procurement, Business Administration, or a related field.

Professional Certifications:

Relevant supply chain credential strongly preferred (e.g., CIPS, PSPTB, CLTD, ASCM, CSCP, or equivalent Inventory Logistics Management certifications).

Work Experience:

Minimum of 3 years hands-on experience in supply chain, logistics, or inventory management, ideally interacting with senior management teams.

Technical & Soft Skills:

  • Advanced computer proficiency (MS Excel, database management, and transport tracking tools).
  • Strong analytical capabilities, high attention to detail, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication skills in Swahili and English.
  • Self-starter mindset with a commitment to clean energy access and off-grid solutions.

Travel Requirements:

Willingness to travel nationally across regional MySol shop networks.
