Job Description

To perform advanced diagnostics, maintenance, repair, overhaul, and modernization of diesel-powered port equipment and terminal assets, including port tractors, RTG cranes, forklifts, and associated powertrain systems. The role ensures maximum equipment availability, reliability, operational efficiency, and compliance with DP World safety, quality, and maintenance standards.

KPAs (Key Performance Areas)

Diesel Engine Repair and Maintenance

  • Perform specialized mechanical and electronic diagnostics on diesel engines and related systems.
  • Conduct major and minor repairs on diesel engines used in terminal equipment.
  • Execute engine overhaul, rebuild, and complete reconstruction activities.
  • Repair and maintain fuel injection systems, fuel pumps, injectors, and associated components.
  • Implement preventive and corrective maintenance programs to maximize equipment availability and reliability.
  • Diagnose and rectify engine performance issues, emissions faults, and operational failures.
  • Ensure all repair activities comply with OEM specifications and DP World maintenance standards.

Automatic Transmission Repair and Maintenance

  • Conduct technical diagnostics and failure analysis of automatic transmission systems.
  • Perform repair, refurbishment, and reconstruction of transmission units.
  • Replace worn, damaged, or defective internal transmission components.
  • Carry out calibration, adjustment, testing, and commissioning of transmission systems following repairs.
  • Execute preventive maintenance activities to reduce downtime and extend equipment life.
  • Monitor transmission performance and recommend corrective actions for recurring issues.

Repowering and Modernization of Port Tractors

  • Participate in modernization and upgrading projects for port tractors and terminal equipment.
  • Upgrade diesel engines, powertrain systems, and associated mechanical components.
  • Optimize equipment performance, fuel efficiency, reliability, and operational productivity.
  • Carry out comprehensive reconstruction programs to extend equipment service life.
  • Support testing, commissioning, and performance validation following repowering activities.
  • Maintain technical documentation and records related to upgrade projects.

Maintenance and Repair of RTG (Rubber Tyred Gantry) Cranes

  • Perform diagnostics, troubleshooting, and repair of RTG mechanical systems.
  • Maintain and repair engines, transmission systems, hydraulic systems, and auxiliary equipment.
  • Execute scheduled preventive maintenance activities in accordance with maintenance plans.
  • Conduct inspections and assessments of critical crane components and assemblies.
  • Identify defects and implement corrective actions to ensure safe and reliable operations.
  • Support breakdown response and emergency repair activities to minimize operational disruptions.

Maintenance and Repair of Port Forklifts

  • Perform technical maintenance and repair of forklifts and other heavy material handling equipment.
  • Diagnose and repair diesel engines, hydraulic systems, and powertrain components.
  • Repair and service transmission systems and driveline assemblies.
  • Coordinate installation, replacement, and testing of spare parts and components.
  • Conduct preventive and corrective maintenance to improve equipment performance and availability.
  • Ensure equipment is maintained in accordance with OEM and DP World operational standards.

Health, Safety, Security and Environment (HSSE)

  • Comply with DP World's Health, Safety, Security, and Environmental policies and procedures at all times.
  • Adhere to Permit-to-Work (PTW), Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), and risk assessment requirements.
  • Identify and report unsafe conditions, incidents, near misses, and equipment defects.

Qualifications Required

  • Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Heavy Equipment Maintenance, Diesel Technology, or related field.
  • Additional certifications in diesel engine systems, automatic transmissions, hydraulics, and heavy equipment maintenance are an advantage.

Experience and Skills Required

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in maintenance and repair of heavy-duty diesel equipment, port equipment, construction equipment, mining equipment, or industrial machinery.
  • Proven experience with engine overhauls, transmission repairs, hydraulic systems, and equipment diagnostics.
  • Experience working with RTG cranes, port tractors, reach stackers, forklifts, or similar terminal equipment is highly desirable.
