Responsibilities or duties
- Collect raw materials, in-process products, and finished goods according to sampling schedules.
- Conduct chemical, physical, and biological tests following Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Calculate, weigh, and mix chemical solutions, buffers, and culture media required for daily testing.
- Log test results immediately into laboratory workbooks or the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS).
- Check and calibrate sensitive equipment such as pH meters, analytical balances, and spectrophotometers before use.
- Identify instrument errors or drifts, perform basic troubleshooting, or request technical service when necessary.
- Sterilize glassware, clean bench surfaces, and maintain a contamination-free work environment.
- Run blank samples, duplicates, and standard reference materials to verify testing accuracy.
- Perform any other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications or requirements (e.g., education, skills)
Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry, Food Science, Laboratory Sciences, or a related technical field.
Experience needed
1–3 years of experience in a manufacturing or industrial laboratory; experience in the sugar industry is an added advantage.
