The Zanzibar Revenue Authority (ZRA) is a government institution established under the Zanzibar Revenue Authority Act No. 11 of 2022, mandated to collect government revenue from domestic sources efficiently and in accordance with the law. To strengthen its risk management and revenue protection functions, ZRA is inviting qualified Zanzibari citizens to apply for the position of Information Officer on a twelve-month temporary employment contract based in Unguja.

This position is designed to strengthen the Authority’s communication, public relations, and information dissemination systems. The successful candidate will support ZRA in managing institutional messaging, media relations, and public engagement to ensure accurate, timely, and professional communication with stakeholders and the general public.

Responsibilities or duties

  • Coordinate and implement communication and public relations strategies for the institution
  • Prepare, publish, and distribute press releases, public notices, and official publications
  • Manage media relations to ensure accurate and timely dissemination of information
  • Organize press conferences, interviews, seminars, and other public relations events
  • Monitor media coverage and prepare analytical feedback reports for management
  • Manage content across the official website and social media platforms
  • Develop communication materials including articles, advertisements, brochures, and public education content
  • Coordinate public awareness campaigns on ZRA services and policies
  • Maintain and archive institutional photo, video, and publication records
  • Advise management on public relations, branding, and information dissemination strategies
  • Participate in planning and implementation of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programs
  • Oversee audio, photo, and video production for institutional use
  • Monitor public feedback, complaints, and suggestions and support timely responses
  • Prepare communication activity reports for management and relevant authorities
  • Ensure compliance of all communication outputs with government and institutional guidelines
  • Manage and produce content for ZRA ONLINE TV
  • Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor within the professional scope

Qualifications or requirements 

  • Must be a Zanzibari citizen
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism, Mass Communication, Public Relations, or related field from a recognized institution
  • Must be 30 years old or younger
  • Computer literacy and proficiency in standard office applications
  • Skills in graphic design and use of Adobe design software
  • Ability to take and edit photos and videos
  • Ability to work overtime when required
  • High level of honesty, ethics, and confidentiality
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
