About the ICT Internship

The ICT Internship is designed to help young IT professionals gain practical workplace experience and build their technical capacity. The internship also supports Amref’s staffing needs when required.

The intern will work under the guidance of the Head of ICT and provide technical support to staff and users across various ICT-related activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide user support through the help desk, telephone, email and other communication channels.
  • Maintain records of technical faults reported and actions taken to resolve them.
  • Perform basic troubleshooting of PC hardware, software and networks.
  • Monitor ICT system performance and assist in diagnosing technical issues.
  • Configure and test ICT equipment and networks, including hardware, peripherals and software.
  • Perform basic computer maintenance, repairs and upgrades.
  • Install and test Amref-standard software on new computers and other equipment.
  • Assist with IT assignments, including software updates and end-user support.
  • Perform basic PC housekeeping, including virus scanning and software updates.
  • Conduct audits of ICT equipment as required.
  • Assist staff in setting up meeting, workshop and conference equipment, including projectors and laptops.

Qualifications and Experience

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Information and Communication Technology (ICT), Computer Science or a related field.
  • At least six (6) months of working experience.
