The Human Resources (HR) Officer role is a key position responsible for managing a broad range of human resource functions at the branch level. The position involves overseeing recruitment, employee relations, payroll administration, staff development, and ensuring compliance with Tanzanian labor laws and company policies.
Responsibilities
The HR Officer will be responsible for supporting and managing day-to-day human resource operations while ensuring effective workforce management and regulatory compliance. The role requires strong interpersonal skills, confidentiality, and the ability to handle various employee-related matters professionally.
- Manage end-to-end recruitment, onboarding, and induction processes for branch personnel
- Maintain comprehensive and up-to-date employee records and personnel files
- Administer payroll inputs, leave management, and employee benefits administration
- Ensure strict compliance with Tanzanian Labour Laws (ELRA) and company HR policies
- Support employee relations activities, grievance handling, and disciplinary procedures
- Coordinate staff training, development initiatives, and performance management reviews
- Assist in managing employee welfare, health insurance, and workplace safety initiatives
- Prepare HR reports and maintain accurate human resource databases
- Advise management and employees on HR policies, procedures, and labor-related matters
- Support workforce planning and organizational development initiatives
- Ensure confidentiality and proper handling of sensitive employee information
- Participate in continuous improvement of HR systems and processes
Qualifications
Candidates applying for this position should possess relevant academic qualifications and practical experience in human resource management. The ideal candidate should demonstrate strong knowledge of labor laws, excellent communication skills, and the ability to manage employee relations effectively.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources Management, Public Administration, Business Administration, or a related field
- Proven experience working as an HR Officer or in a similar human resources role
- Experience in mining, construction, or logistics sectors will be an added advantage
- Deep understanding of Tanzanian Labour Laws and employment regulations
- High level of integrity, confidentiality, and professionalism
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Fluency in both English and Swahili, both written and spoken
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Strong organizational, problem-solving, and conflict resolution skills
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple HR activities simultaneously
