Job Purpose:

To operate heavy-duty on-road and off-road vehicles safely and efficiently to transport materials, supplies, and personnel across the project site, supporting daily operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate assigned vehicles (e.g., dump trucks, water bowsers, fuel tankers, low loaders) in a safe and professional manner.
  • Perform pre-start and post-operation inspections (checking fluids, tires, brakes, lights) and report any defects.
  • Ensure correct loading, securing, transportation, and unloading of materials.
  • Adhere to all site traffic management plans, speed limits, and road safety rules.
  • Maintain accurate logbooks of trips, mileage, and fuel consumption.
  • Assist with basic vehicle maintenance (cleaning, greasing).
  • Communicate effectively with dispatch, loading, and unloading points.
  • Comply with all regulations for transporting hazardous materials (if applicable).

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Valid Tanzanian Driving License Class C, C1, C2, C3, E, or G (as relevant to the specific vehicle).
  • Certificate of Competence from the National Institute of Transport (NIT) or similar is a strong advantage.
  • Defensive driving training certification.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of relevant experience in mining or heavy civil construction.
  • Proven track record of working in remote site locations.
  • Strong commitment to safety protocols and procedures.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Relevant trade certification, vocational training, or operator licenses.
  • Physical fitness and ability to work in challenging outdoor environments.
  • Fluency in Kiswahili; working knowledge of English is an advantage.
