Position: Health and Safety Officer
Department: General
About the Role
As a Health and Safety Officer, you will ensure the highest standards of safety and regulatory compliance are maintained throughout the hotel. This is a vital role in maintaining the wellbeing of our guests and team members and ensuring that our operations run safely, smoothly, and in accordance with national legislation and RIU policies.
Responsibilities or duties
- Prior experience in food science and food hygiene in a primary importance
- Oversee and implement hotel-wide health and safety practices and risk assessments.
- Monitor and evaluate compliance with statutory and company health and safety regulations.
- Conduct regular inspections of the hotel premises, identify hazards, and initiate corrective measures.
- Train employees on emergency procedures, safe practices, and first aid.
- Investigate accidents, incidents, or near misses and compile accurate reports.
- Maintain detailed records of safety inspections, incidents, and training activities.
- Coordinate fire drills and emergency evacuation procedures.
- Collaborate with department heads to develop safety improvement strategies.
Qualifications or requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety or a related field.
- In-depth knowledge of local and international health, safety, and fire regulations.
- First aid training certification is a strong advantage.
- Excellent communication skills and a proactive attitude.
- Ability to train and influence others to maintain a safety-first culture.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools and basic report writing in English.
Experience needed
Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a health and safety role, preferably within the hospitality industry.
