Our client, a leading transportation, logistics, shipping, healthcare and mobility services company, is seeking to recruit a highly qualified and experienced professional for the position of Group Head, ICT and Smart Mobility Systems.

Reporting directly to the Group Chief Executive Officer, the successful candidate will provide strategic leadership in the development, implementation, and continuous evolution of the Group's technology, digital transformation, and smart mobility agenda. The role holder will be responsible for aligning technology investments, digital capabilities, and innovation initiatives with the Group's strategic objectives to drive operational excellence, enhance customer experience, support business growth, and create sustainable long-term value.

The position will also oversee the governance, security, resilience, and optimization of the Group's technology ecosystem while championing the adoption of emerging technologies and data-driven solutions to strengthen organizational performance, operational efficiency, and competitive advantage across the Group's diverse business operations.

Responsibilities or duties

1. ICT Strategy and Digital Transformation

  • Lead the Group’s ICT and Smart Mobility Strategy, ensuring alignment with business objectives and growth ambitions.
  • Drive digital transformation, innovation, automation, data analytics, cloud technologies, and customer-centric solutions.
  • Advise the Board and Executive Management on emerging technologies, cybersecurity, and digital trends.
  • Oversee technology roadmaps that support operational efficiency, business growth, and future readiness.

2. ICT Governance, Risk and Compliance

  • Establish and maintain ICT governance frameworks, policies, standards, and controls across the Group.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory, legal, and industry requirements.
  • Lead ICT risk management, cybersecurity oversight, audits, and remediation activities.
  • Ensure effective governance of technology investments, projects, digital initiatives, and information assets through appropriate decision-making and oversight structures.

3. Cybersecurity, Data & Information Management

  • Provide strategic leadership for the Group's cybersecurity programme to protect information assets, technology infrastructure, operational systems, and digital platforms.
  • Establish and maintain cybersecurity policies, standards, controls, and monitoring mechanisms.
  • Ensure compliance with data protection, privacy, and information governance requirements.
  • Promote data governance, analytics, and business intelligence to support data-driven decision-making.

4. Enterprise Technology & Infrastructure Management

  • Oversee ICT infrastructure, enterprise systems, networks, cloud platforms, and digital services.
  • Drive technology architecture, modernization, cloud adoption, and infrastructure investment initiatives.
  • Ensure reliable, secure, and scalable technology services that support business operations.
  • Monitor ICT performance, service delivery, and technology risks, regularly report to Executive Management and the Board.

5. Vendor, Technology Partnership and Project Governance

  • Develop and implement the Group's ICT sourcing, vendor management, and technology partnership strategy.
  • Lead negotiations and governance of major ICT contracts, enterprise licensing agreements, managed services, technology outsourcing arrangements, and strategic partnerships.
  • Evaluate and approve technology vendors, solutions, and service providers based on strategic alignment, technical capability, scalability, security, risk, and value for money.

6. Business Continuity, Resilience and Technology Assurance

  • Establish and maintain Group-wide disaster recovery, business continuity, and technology resilience frameworks to safeguard critical business operations and information assets.
  • Ensure regular testing and review of disaster recovery and business continuity plans.
  • Ensure critical systems, infrastructure, and digital services achieve agreed availability, recovery, and resilience objectives.

7. Smart Mobility Systems and Emerging Technology

  • Provide strategic leadership, direction, and oversight of the ICT and Smart Mobility function.
  • Oversee the development of technology resilience strategies that minimize operational disruption and strengthen business continuity across all business units.
  • Ensure critical systems, infrastructure, and digital services achieve agreed availability, recovery, and resilience objectives.
  • Monitor emerging technology threats and operational risks and implement appropriate mitigation measures.

Qualifications or requirements (e.g., education, skills)

Academic Qualifications & Experience:

  • Master’s degree in in computer science, Information Technology, Engineering, Telecommunications, Information Systems, Business Information Systems, or a related field. An MBA will be an added.
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, Software/Electronics Engineering, Telecommunications or a related field.
  • A relevant professional certification in any of the following or related qualification:
    • Project Management Professional (PMP)
    • Projects in Controlled Environments (PRINCE2)
    • Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL)
    • The Open Group Architecture Framework (TOGAF)
    • Certified Information Security Manager (CISM)
    • Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP)
    • Control Objectives for Information and Related Technologies (COBIT)

Experience needed

  • A minimum of 10 years' relevant experience in ICT, Digital Transformation, Enterprise Technology, Intelligent Transport Systems, Smart Mobility, Fleet Technology, or a related field.
  • At least 5 years in a senior ICT leadership role, managing teams and leading enterprise-wide technology initiatives
  • Experience in public transport, bus rapid transit, rail transport, mobility, logistics, or a public-private partnership or concession environment.
  • Familiarity with payment systems, mobile money integration.
