GRADER OPERATOR

Job Summary

The Grader Operator will operate motor graders to level, shape, and finish roads, surfaces, access routes, and other project areas according to required specifications.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate graders safely and accurately.
• Perform road grading, levelling, shaping, and surface-finishing activities.
• Follow site drawings, instructions, and required grades.
• Conduct pre-operation inspections of the grader.
• Monitor machine performance and identify mechanical issues.
• Maintain accurate equipment-operation records.
• Work closely with surveyors, supervisors, and other equipment operators.
• Maintain safe distances from workers, vehicles, and other machinery.
• Carry out basic maintenance and cleaning.
• Report equipment faults and safety concerns promptly.
• Comply with all site health, safety, and environmental requirements.

Requirements

• VETA Certificate or relevant heavy-equipment qualification.
• Valid operator's licence/certification with Class F and G qualifications.
• Previous experience operating a motor grader is preferred.
• Good understanding of grading and earthmoving operations.
• Strong attention to detail and machine-control skills.
• Commitment to workplace and site safety.
