Background

Mkulazi Holding Company Limited (MHCL) is inviting qualified and experienced Tanzanians to apply for the position of Fitter Mechanics – Boiler. The successful candidates will report to the Senior Technician and will support maintenance, fitting, repair, and installation activities for boiler systems and auxiliary mechanical equipment within the factory operations.

The role requires practical technical skills in mechanical fitting, equipment maintenance, troubleshooting, and safe handling of industrial tools and machinery. The selected candidates will support efficient plant operations by ensuring mechanical systems are properly maintained, inspected, repaired, and operated according to safety and operational standards.

Key duties and responsibilities include:

  • Carrying out routine inspections and preventive maintenance of mechanical systems and components
  • Performing fitting, assembling, installation, and alignment of boiler systems and auxiliary equipment including pumps, fans, conveyors, gearboxes, turbines, valves, and pipework
  • Repairing, replacing, and adjusting faulty mechanical components such as bearings, gears, shafts, pumps, and couplings
  • Operating heavy-duty hand and power tools safely and effectively during maintenance works
  • Fabricating simple metal structures and components for repair and maintenance activities
  • Participating in machinery overhauls, shutdown maintenance, and major repair works
  • Assisting in installation and testing of new mechanical equipment
  • Maintaining proper housekeeping and safe working conditions during maintenance activities
  • Reporting machine defects, abnormalities, and potential hazards to supervisors
  • Recording and reporting completed work, spare parts used, and tools utilized during maintenance activities
  • Preparing and maintaining daily, weekly, and monthly machinery checklists
  • Assisting in preparation and implementation of preventive maintenance schedules
  • Participating in occupational health and safety programs
  • Working with team members to diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical faults
  • Collaborating with Technicians and maintenance teams for efficient problem-solving
  • Ensuring proper care, use, and storage of tools and mechanical equipment
  • Performing any other lawful duties assigned by the supervisor

Qualifications and requirements:

  • Certificate in Fitter Mechanics Level III or related field from a recognized institution
  • Minimum of three (3) years working experience in engineering or mechanical maintenance roles
  • Experience in manufacturing or processing industries, preferably in boiler or power generation operations
  • Good understanding of industrial mechanical systems and maintenance procedures
  • Ability to use mechanical tools and equipment safely and effectively
  • Basic troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Strong teamwork, communication, and organizational abilities
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure within industrial environments
