Job Purpose:

The Finance Officer is responsible for maintaining the project's financial integrity. This role manages day-to-day accounting, financial reporting, budget monitoring, and compliance to ensure that funds are used effectively and transparently for the benefit of the target communities.

Key Responsibilities:

Accounting: Maintain accurate books of accounts (cashbooks, ledgers) using accounting software.

Payments: Process all financial transactions, including invoices, travel advances, and salary payments, ensuring all expenses are approved and supported by valid documentation.

Cash Management: Manage cash flow, perform weekly cash counts, and ensure safe custody of cash.

Budget Monitoring: Monitor project expenditures against approved budgets, flagging potential under/over-spending to the Project Manager.

Donor Reporting: Prepare timely financial reports and forecasts for donors as per contractual requirements.

Compliance: Ensure all financial procedures comply with organizational policies, local tax laws, and donor regulations.

Audit Support: Support internal and external audits by providing accurate supporting documentation and responding to audit queries.

Qualifications & Experience:

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or a related field. CPA, ACCA, or equivalent certification is a distinct advantage.

Experience: Minimum of 3 years of progressive experience in finance or accounting, preferably in the NGO/INGO sector.

Skills: Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, Agresso) and advanced MS Excel skills.

Competencies: High level of integrity, attention to detail, analytical thinking, and the ability to work under financial pressure.
