General:

Fiber network technicians install and maintain fiber-optic cable used to carry Internet connections and audio and visual transmissions.

Minimum qualifications:

A diploma ,Degree in Telecom, or equivalent

Experience:

Two or more years experience with well established Telecommunication Company

Key competencies:

• Ability to lift heavy equipment, climb poles and crawl into small spaces.
• General knowledge of electrical processes and familiarity with the equipment and tools used in the field.
• A basic level of comfort interacting with customers,

Job description and responsibility

• To ensure all preventive maintenance works are properly done as per client’s standards which shall include but not limited to darkfibre testing, Manhole cleaning/repair, tree pruning, pole cleaning ,trenching/piloting and patrolling.
• To receive the TT and attend the callout with immediate effect, diagnose the TT and solve within MTTR.
• During faults clearance ensure updates sent at not more than every 30mins. This includes sending photos of the restoration progress.
• To give the feedback of all closed TT and update of all unclosed TT reasons thereof and suggest action plan to close the TT within MTTR.
• To install new cable lines, both underground and on telephone poles,
• Perform maintenance on existing cables, including evaluation tests and repairing old or malfunctioning cables.
• Locate problem areas and perform other repairs as needed.
• Install and maintain network systems for private lines and determine solutions for any issues preventing the service from operating normally.
• To prepare outage report including photos attachments and send them to PM
• And any other duties that will be assigned by Supervisor
