About the Company

We are a growing agricultural company seeking a highly motivated, experienced, and results oriented Farm Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of our farm and ensure efficient, profitable, and sustainable agricultural production.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Managing the overall day-to-day operations of the farm.
  • Planning and supervising crop production activities from land preparation to harvesting.
  • Developing and implementing seasonal farm production plans and budgets.
  • Supervising farm workers, casual labourers, and other farm staff.
  • Ensuring proper use and maintenance of farm machinery, equipment, tools, and irrigation systems.
  • Monitoring crop health, pests, diseases, weeds, and overall farm productivity.
  • Coordinating the purchase and proper use of seeds, fertilizers, pesticides, animal feed, fuel, and other farm inputs, where applicable.
  • Maintaining accurate records of farm activities, production, labour, inputs, expenses, and yields.
  • Monitoring farm costs and ensuring operations remain within approved budgets.
  • Ensuring compliance with applicable agricultural, environmental, occupational health and safety requirements.
  • Working closely with agronomists, agricultural consultants, suppliers, buyers, and other stakeholders.
  • Implementing good agricultural practices and sustainable farming methods.
  • Identifying opportunities to improve productivity, efficiency, quality, and profitability.
  • Preparing regular farm performance reports for management.
  • Ensuring the farm is maintained in a clean, safe, organized, and productive condition.
  • Performing any other duties reasonably assigned by management.

Qualifications & Experience

Applicants should have:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Agriculture, Agronomy, Crop Production, Horticulture, Agricultural Engineering, or a related field.
  • At least 5 years of relevant experience in farm management, preferably in a commercial farming environment.
  • Proven experience supervising farm workers and managing agricultural operations.
  • Strong knowledge of crop production, farm planning, pest and disease management, and agricultural inputs.
  • Experience in farm budgeting, record keeping, and inventory management.
  • Ability to operate or effectively manage the use of agricultural machinery and equipment.
  • Good computer skills, particularly Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • Strong leadership, communication, planning, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and make sound operational decisions.
  • Willingness to work and reside at the farm location, where required.
  • A valid driving licence will be an added advantage.
