About us
Kafika House is an international NGO based in Arusha, Tanzania. We run the Kafika House programme, providing a safe and nurturing environment for children undergoing pre and post operative care and rehabilitation for surgically treatable disabilities. These include cleft lip and palate, clubfoot, skeletal fluorosis, burn scar contractures, and osteomyelitis. Our vision is that no child in Tanzania should live with a treatable disability.
About the role
The Facility Coordinator will oversee the daily operations of the Arusha facility, including residential care, housekeeping, kitchen, groundkeepers, laundry and social workers.
The role responsibilities will also include:
- Coordinating facility teams, rosters, timetables and daily activities.
- Ensure compliance with Kafika House Child Protection and PSEAH standards.
- Build and maintain good relationships with local stakeholders and government authorities.
- Support the hosting of visitors and volunteers at the facility.
- Ensure effective communication between the facility and the Kafika House Management Team.
- Monitoring adherence to facility SOPs, standards and recommend improvements where needed.
- Work with the Programmes Manager on facility planning, budgeting and expenditure.
- Lead and support the team to build a positive, professional and values driven working environment.
- Support staff development, training and performance.
- Provide regular updates, reports and advice to management on facility operations.
What we are looking for
- A Bachelor’s degree in Health Administration, Business Administration, Sociology or a related field.
- At least 5 years of relevant work experience, including proven facility operations experience.
- Experience working with local suppliers.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Good critical thinking and decision-making skills.
- Ability to delegate, coordinate and follow through on tasks.
- High levels of integrity, confidentiality and fairness.
- Good planning and time-management skills, with strong attention to detail.
- A practical approach to identifying challenges and finding solutions.
