EXCAVATOR OPERATOR

Job Summary

The Excavator Operator will safely and efficiently operate excavators for excavation, earthmoving, loading, trenching, and other project-related activities.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate excavators according to project requirements.
• Perform excavation, trenching, loading, grading, and material handling.
• Conduct daily pre-operation inspections.
• Check hydraulic systems, attachments, fluids, and safety equipment.
• Follow instructions from site supervisors and engineers.
• Operate machinery safely around workers, structures, and other equipment.
• Maintain accurate equipment-operation records.
• Report mechanical faults and safety issues promptly.
• Carry out basic operator-level maintenance and cleaning.
• Follow site traffic management and health and safety procedures.

Requirements

• VETA Certificate or relevant heavy-equipment training.
• Valid operator's licence/certification with the required Class F and G qualifications.
• Practical excavator operating experience is preferred.
• Good understanding of construction-site safety.
• Ability to work for extended periods in a demanding site environment.
• Strong awareness of surroundings and safety risks.

Work Hours: 8

Experience in Months: 12
