Kigoma Water Supply and Sanitation Authority (KUWASA) is inviting applications from qualified, experienced, and motivated Tanzanians for the position of Engineer Volunteer. KUWASA is an autonomous utility responsible for the operation and management of clean water supply and sanitation services in Kigoma Municipality.
The position is intended to support the Authority in design, maintenance, monitoring, rehabilitation, and management of water supply infrastructure and distribution systems. The successful candidate will play an important role in ensuring efficient operation of water networks, reduction of technical losses, and timely response to system breakdowns and customer complaints related to water services.
Responsibilities or duties
- Carrying out design, development, maintenance, rehabilitation, and management of water network infrastructure.
- Maintaining records of water network inventory and monitoring factors affecting network performance.
- Monitoring water flow and distribution networks to ensure efficient operations.
- Handling customer complaints related to water supply services.
- Conducting studies on water losses and recommending corrective measures to address identified problems.
- Preparing and maintaining records of major and minor breakdowns within water distribution systems and ensuring prompt repair actions.
- Supervising efforts aimed at reducing technical water losses caused by leakages, breakages, and system overflows.
- Supporting maintenance and operational improvement activities within the Authority.
- Performing any other duties assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications or requirements (e.g., education, skills)
- Bachelor Degree in Civil Engineering, Structural and Construction Engineering, Construction Management, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Water Resources Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Water Engineering, Engineering Management, or related engineering fields from recognized institutions.
- Must be registered as a Graduate Engineer with the Engineers Registration Board (ERB).
- Strong understanding of water supply systems, infrastructure maintenance, and engineering operations.
- Ability to analyze technical challenges and recommend practical engineering solutions.
- Good communication, reporting, and teamwork skills.
- Computer literacy and ability to work with engineering and technical systems.
- Must be a Tanzanian citizen.
Experience needed
Minimum of four (4) years working experience in a related engineering field.

The volunteer appointment shall be for a period of one year.
