Job Purpose
The successful candidate will be responsible to ensure the safe, reliable, and efficient functioning of all electrical and instrumentation systems within the plant or facility. Provide technical expertise in the design, installation, calibration, and maintenance of electrical and control systems to support optimal plant performance.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
- Responsible for electrical safety in the workplace in accordance with regulations and the necessary standards
- Responsible for designing, developing, installing, managing, and maintaining electrical and instrumentation systems and equipment.
- Collaborate with other engineers and the Optimization team to ensure that projects are completed on time, within budget, and meet industry standards.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams (maintenance, operations, projects) to ensure seamless integration and functionality of E&I systems in daily operations and capital projects.
- Lead or support root cause investigations and implement sustainable solutions to recurring instrumentation or electrical issues.
- Implementation of methodologies, manpower, spares, and other resources necessary to achieve efficient and safe maintenance in line with technical standards.
- Reduce maintenance and repair work throughout the equipment life cycle by upgrading materials and practices to improve technical and economic performance
- Management of documentation of E&I maintenance and repair activities, equipment history, and maintenance schedules.
- Prepare safety and technical reports/documentation, including keeping/custodian of updated drawings, schematics, and test/work instructions & procedures.
- Maintain up-to-date documentation of all E&I assets including calibration records, wiring diagrams, and inspection checklists.
- Ensure in the short and medium term the optimum equipment availability and performance at minimum cost.
- Monitor and co-ordinate condition predictors, for all critical equipment.
- Promote and adhere to Illovo’s procedures, policies and guidelines, including, without limitation, those relating to SHERQ, Competition Law and Anti-Bribery and Corruption (ABC)
Job Requirements:
- A bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering/Instrumentation Engineering or Equivalent qualification.
- Must be registered with a professional body and have two (2+) years’ working experience in the manufacturing industry.
Terms of Service:
The successful candidate will be engaged on a Permanent contract.
