The Electrical Engineer will be responsible for the planning, supervision, inspection, and quality control of all electrical systems and installations associated with the airport construction project. The role ensures that all electrical works are designed, installed, tested, and commissioned in accordance with approved engineering designs, project specifications, international aviation standards, and regulatory requirements. He/She will oversee electrical installations including airfield lighting systems, power distribution networks, substations, standby power systems, control systems, and other electrical infrastructure required for airport operations.
Key Responsibilities
Electrical Design Review and Implementation
- Review electrical designs, drawings, and technical specifications related to airport infrastructure.
- Ensure electrical designs comply with international aviation standards, engineering codes, and project specifications.
- Review contractor design submissions and recommend improvements where necessary.
- Verify electrical load calculations, equipment specifications, and electrical system layouts.
Supervision of Electrical Works
- Supervise installation of electrical systems across the airport project site.
- Monitor contractor performance and ensure electrical works are carried out in accordance with approved drawings and standards.
- Ensure proper installation of electrical equipment including transformers, switchgear, control panels, cables, and lighting systems.
Airfield Electrical Systems
- Oversee installation and testing of airfield lighting systems, including runway lighting, taxiway lighting, approach lighting systems, and apron lighting.
- Ensure compliance with international airport and aviation electrical standards.
- Coordinate installation of navigation and airfield electrical infrastructure.
Power Distribution Systems
- Supervise installation and commissioning of electrical power distribution systems including substations, transformers, and switchgear.
- Ensure reliability and redundancy of power supply systems required for airport operations.
- Monitor installation of standby power systems including generators and backup power systems.
Inspection, Testing and Commissioning
- Conduct electrical inspections to verify compliance with design specifications.
- Ensure testing and commissioning of all electrical systems before project completion.
- Review and approve electrical test results and commissioning reports.
Quality Assurance and Compliance
- Ensure all electrical works comply with quality standards, safety regulations, and project requirements.
- Coordinate with the Quality Assurance Manager to ensure compliance with QA/QC procedures.
- Identify and address electrical installation defects and initiate corrective actions.
Health, Safety and Environmental Compliance
- Ensure electrical works comply with health and safety regulations.
- Monitor safe installation and handling of electrical equipment.
- Ensure electrical safety practices are implemented across the project.
Documentation and Reporting
- Prepare electrical progress reports and technical documentation.
- Maintain records of inspections, testing results, and electrical installations.
- Provide updates to the Project Manager on electrical construction progress.
Requirements & Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from a recognized university.
- Professional registration with a recognized Engineering Regulatory Body is an added advantage.
- Minimum 10 years cumulative experience in electrical engineering.
- Proven experience in large infrastructure or construction projects.
- Must have served as Electrical Engineer in at least one airport construction project within the last 10 years.
- Experience with airfield electrical systems and airport infrastructure is highly desirable.

- Strong knowledge of electrical engineering systems for infrastructure projects.
- Familiarity with airport electrical systems and aviation infrastructure requirements.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and technical specifications.
- Experience supervising electrical installation works on large construction projects.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent technical reporting and documentation skills.
- Strong coordination and communication abilities.
