About the Role:
The primary role of the EHS Officer is to develop, implement and monitor Environment, Health & Safety standards across Irvine’s Tanzania feed mill, promoting a strong safety culture, legal compliance, incident prevention and responsible environmental practices.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain the site EHS management system, policies and procedures in line with company standards and Tanzanian legislation.
- Conduct risk assessments, safety inspections and workplace audits across production, warehouse, packing, weighbridge and outdoor areas.
- Lead accident, incident and near-miss investigations and track corrective/preventive actions to closure.
- Deliver inductions, toolbox talks, safety training and awareness programmes for employees and contractors.
- Monitor PPE, fire equipment, emergency exits, dust, chemical storage and waste-management controls.
- Prepare HSE reports and support HACCP/GMP, food safety, emergency response and regulatory compliance.
Qualifications & Experience Required:
- Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering or a related field.
- Minimum 3 years’ relevant EHS experience in manufacturing, industrial or continuous-process environments.
- 2 years’ experience implementing HSE systems in a shift-based or 24/7 production environment is preferred.
- Experience in risk assessment, incident investigation, safety audits, training, PPE management and environmental monitoring.
- NEBOSH, IOSH or equivalent professional HSE certification is highly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of Tanzanian HSE requirements, communication, influencing and problem-solving skills.
