Role purpose:

Build effective relationships with key dealers and gain business support to maximize Bayer seed and CP business, mainly targeting smallholder farmers

Assure product availability for smallholder farmers in the region (direct sell-out or through retail) by order generation at the key dealer stage and grow the business

Build Bayer and Dekalb value proposition at the distribution level

Key Responsibilities And Tasks

Responsibilities or duties

  • Deliver the mission for the region together with the customer facing squad
  • Coordinate the customer facing squad and take administrative leadership
  • Jointly manage the regional P&L with the customer-facing team
  • Ensure that the regional 90-day sales goals including the budget are achieved
  • Deliver accurate forecasts with the squad to assure product availability (short-term and mid-term, esp. for seed availability)
  • Manage the relationship with key dealers and assure order generation at dealer level (full account management)
  • Develop annual regional sales and marketing plans for the region with the team
  • Ensure achievement of monthly sales plans.
  • Assess data provided by sales staff in the region and implement agreed regional sales and growth strategies
  • Identify business opportunities and develop strategies to capture them.
  • Identify volume and market share gaps/trends and feed into regional strategy
  • Keep track of competitors activities and market changes and feed back to supporting units business transformation and growth in line with the small holder strategy.
  • Regularly monitor and review partnership activation plans, including training and marketing campaigns to ensure delivery of both commercial and sustainability KPIs.
  • Identify opportunities to scale the partnerships into new geographies and crop segments, aligned to the Bayer intensity matrix. Spearhead’s new product launches to drive the adoption of innovation and farmer technologies.
  • Drive the digital transformation journey in close collaboration with marketing.
  • Ensure integration between Key Account Plan and GTM Strategies / Activation Plans of the EAF countries.

Experience needed

  • Four (4) years of relevant experience in crop agronomy, seeds and pest control practices
  • Sales experience in Seeds or Crop Protection products and customer relationships.

Experience, Skills and Qualifications

  • Degree in Agriculture and/or Business
  • Solid agricultural knowledge and understanding of local market environment.
  • Demonstrate Bayer’s core competencies: Customer Focus, Drives Results, Values Differences, Manages Complexity, Collaboration, and Instills Trust.
  • Ability to collaborate/communicate with and develop internal and external partnerships.
  • Ability to work well across both commercial and smallholder farmer markets.
  • Good Microsoft Skills (Excel / PowerPoint / Word) a prerequisite.
  • Highly motivated, creative, dynamic, and well organized.
