The Opportunity
We are seeking a highly skilled and strategic Director: Human Resources to join our dynamic team based at the Geita Gold Mine (GGML) in Tanzania. Reporting directly to the VP – Human Resources – Africa, this pivotal role serves as a strategic HR Business Partner to the Managing Director and the broader site leadership team, playing a critical role in driving organizational success through effective human capital management and fostering a productive, safe, and engaged workforce. As the Director of Human Resources, you will be instrumental in aligning HR strategies with the site’s operational and strategic goals. You will provide expert advice and support to senior management on all people-related matters, shaping the workplace culture and ensuring compliance with local labor laws and industry best practices. Key Responsibilities
- Act as a trusted advisor to the Managing Director and site leadership team, translating business objectives into effective HR strategies and measurable actions that enhance business results and employee engagement.
- Champion the deployment and full utilization of the HR Information System across the site, ensuring accurate tracking of HR metrics, in-depth analysis of data trends, and informed, data-driven decision-making.
- Lead and manage comprehensive change management initiatives, guiding the organization through transitions and ensuring alignment with company goals while maintaining high levels of employee motivation and engagement.
- Implement and manage the organizational structure in line with the Operation Model to optimize delivery of budgets and business plans, ensuring workforce alignment with operational demands.
- Collaborate closely with senior management on workforce planning, forecasting future talent requirements, and developing succession plans that ensure business continuity and growth.
- Drive and nurture a positive organizational culture by developing communication strategies, recognition programs, and employee engagement initiatives that support the company’s core values, global culture, and inclusion, diversity, and equity (IDE) goals.
- Develop and execute comprehensive labor relations plans tailored to the mine’s operations, fostering strong, collaborative relationships with unions and stakeholders, and guiding collective bargaining negotiations for sustainable business performance.
- Ensure full compliance with Tanzanian labor laws and international labor standards, continuously monitoring regulatory updates, adapting policies proactively, and mitigating legal and ethical risks.
- Identify current and future skill gaps through thorough analysis and stakeholder consultation; design and implement targeted talent development programs, coaching, and training to elevate workforce capability and support career progression.
- Lead the assessment and delivery of legal and regulatory training, ensuring that operational teams and management are well-informed about employment laws and compliance requirements related to the mining sector.
- Promote a culture of continuous learning and professional growth using innovative training methodologies and best practices aimed at enhancing employee productivity and engagement.
- Support site operations through strategic HR initiatives involving recruitment, retention strategies, and performance management systems that promote accountability, high performance, and operational excellence.

Qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Industrial Relations, Psychology, or a related field is essential.
- Advanced degrees (such as a master’s degree or MBA) with a focus on Human Resources Management, Labor Relations, or Business Administration are highly desirable and may be preferred.
Experiences
- Comprehensive understanding of HR processes and best practices.
- Sound understanding of the organizational HR business value drivers
- Ability to take a whole-of-business view to HR operations and optimization
