The Dean of Student Affairs is a senior leadership role responsible for the overall development, well-being, and success of the student body outside the academic curriculum. The Dean will create a supportive, inclusive, and engaging campus environment that fosters student leadership, personal growth, and community standards.
Responsibilities or duties
- Provide strategic vision and leadership for the Division of Student Affairs.
- Oversee departments including Student Counseling, Housing, Health Services, Career Services, Student Activities, and Discipline.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate policies and programs that enhance student life, welfare, and retention.
- Serve as a primary advocate for students, addressing their concerns and needs at the institutional level.
- Manage the Student Affairs budget and resources effectively.
- Collaborate with Academic Affairs to support the holistic student experience.
- Respond to and manage student crises and critical incidents.
- Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and ethical standards in all student services.
Qualifications or requirements (e.g., education, skills)
Education: A Master’s degree is required (Doctorate preferred) in Higher Education Administration, Student Personnel, Counseling, or a related field.
Experience needed
- Minimum of 7-10 years of progressive leadership experience in student affairs within a higher education setting.
- Proven ability to develop student-centered programs and manage a diverse team.
- Excellent interpersonal, conflict-resolution, and communication skills.
- Deep understanding of student development theory and best practices.
