Our client, a reputable Microfinance Institution, is looking for an experienced and results-driven Credit Officer to join its team. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in loan portfolio management, client acquisition, and credit risk assessment within a microfinance or financial institution.

• Market the institution’s loan products and recruit new clients.
• Assess loan applications through financial analysis, business evaluations, and field appraisals.
• Conduct due diligence, including client business and guarantor verification.
• Prepare and present loan recommendations for approval.
• Disburse approved loans and ensure all documentation is complete and compliant.
• Monitor loan repayments and follow up on overdue accounts to maintain portfolio quality.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with clients while providing excellent customer service.
• Meet monthly loan disbursement, collection, and recovery targets.
• Maintain accurate client records and prepare periodic portfolio performance reports.
• Ensure compliance with the institution’s credit policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.

• Good understanding of microfinance lending principles and credit risk management.
• Strong sales, negotiation, and relationship management skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
• High level of integrity, professionalism, and ability to work with minimal supervision.

• Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Finance, Banking, Business Administration, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.
• Minimum of 2 years experience as a Credit Officer in a Microfinance Institution, Bank, SACCOS, or other Financial Institution.
• Demonstrated experience in loan appraisal, credit analysis, loan recovery, and portfolio management.
